Since the release of “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie” in 2013, the annual AKB48 single featuring the top members of the Senbatsu Sousenko has been one that has been easy to dance along to, spawning many different versions. Here is a look at the AKB48, JKT48, and JKT48 versions and a chance to join them by participating in an International Fan Version of “Halloween Night” organized by New School Kaidan!

Here is the original AKB48 version of the video. As usual, until the next single is released, this is only the short version which is unfortunate because it only shows a fraction of what happens. Following “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie” and “Kokoro no Placard”, there are a lot of extras dancing along but, it isn’t until the second half that things really get going. The extras step aside and Rino Sashihara leads the group as they glide across the dancefloor. Adding to that, there is Sayaka Yamamoto (why wasn’t it Sae Miyazawa though?) dressed as Michael Jackson and best of all, Minami Takahashi as MC Hammer!

Instead of having them arrive at a nightclub for a costume party, the JKT48 version of “Halloween Night” uses a magical door appearing in the forest to transport the members to a brightly lit mansion so you can clearly see the choreography and your favorite members in their costumes clearly.

They also released a dangdut (Indonesian pop music) version of the song and MV, adding a localized dimension to the song.

It’s not easy to top AKB48, who generally has some of the highest quality and expensive-looking MVs out there but, the SNH48 version has the members traveling via portal to a European mansion that is soo big that it could probably have a dozen AKB48 theaters fit inside of it! This one reverses the progression of the AKB48 version since it isn’t until the end that the members are dancing along with the extras. Because YouTube is not available in China, this is not an official version so, it may be removed.

Back in 2013 New School Kaidan organized the making of an International Fan Version of “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie” and it was met with an overwhelming response! It was not only uploaded to the AKB48 official YouTube channel but, was given the thumbs up by Rino Sashihara and won the “Best Fan Video” award from AKS!

Here is the MV for “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie”. Even if you weren’t in it, don’t you feel at least a little moved to see how all these people from around the world were brought together by their love of AKB48?
